On the
second day the Scots attack, trapping the English between the two
streams. Edward pushes some archers onto the left flank of the Scottish
line, but the bowmen are scattered by the brilliant cavalry charge
of Keith's light horse.
With the threat from the archers gone, Bruce
throws his own division into the battle, Edward II leaves the
field, the small folk come down from Coxtet hill, the English break, and
Keith's horsemen pursue the fleeing English.
